Hair types and their effect on dandruff All hair has the same basic structure, but the way it grows varies according to ethnic group:
- Afro-textured hair: each hair strand tends to grow close to the scalp in a curved spiral. This makes hair appear denser.
- Asian hair: tends to grow more quickly than that of other ethnic groups. It grows perpendicular to the scalp, making it appear less dense.
- Caucasian hair: grows diagonally from the scalp and is slightly curved.
