You’ve bought an anti-dandruff shampoo – that’s the first step to being flake-free. But how often should you use it to get rid of dandruff?
Our clinical studies have shown that using Head & Shoulders exclusively 3 times a week was effective at combating moderate to severe dandruff.
But it has to be exclusive…
Most of the anti-dandruff action happens after you’ve left the shower.
Even if you’ve washed away all the flakes from your hair during the shower, your scalp needs to be looked after too, to keep it healthy.
That’s where the active ingredient, zinc pyrithione, comes in. The micro-active elements of zinc pyrithione stay behind after you rinse to protect your scalp from dandruff and help prevent flakes from coming back.
Unfortunately, if you switch back to a beauty shampoo, you wash away the zinc pyrithione and reduce the level of anti-dandruff protection.
Even using a normal conditioner after Head & Shoulders can wash away the anti-dandruff action. That’s why we developed our own anti-dandruff conditioners, which work with the shampoo to give you softer hair, while keeping maximum protection.
Use it as often as you like
There’s no limit to how often you can use Head & Shoulders – it’s pH balanced and gentle on hair, so you can use it every day.
Using Head & Shoulders every time you wash helps you keep a healthy scalp and leaves your hair looking beautiful and flake-free.¹
However, you don’t always have to use the same Head & Shoulders shampoo – mix it up! For example, you can regularly alternate your shampoo. Try Apple Fresh for a great scent, or our Refreshing Mint shampoo and conditioner, which invigorates your scalp with sea mineral essence and refreshing mint.
