HOW TO PREVENT ITCHY SCALP IN WINTER

Head and Shoulders

Itchy scalp is a common reaction to irritation, and in winter, many factors can cause it. Here are our top tips for staying warm in winter while protecting your scalp and avoiding that annoying itch.

1. Opt for lukewarm water

It's always tempting to enjoy a long, hot shower in winter... but be careful!

Very hot water can damage your scalp. High temperatures compromise hydration and can burn your skin, leading to inflammation, irritation and, you guessed it, an itchy scalp.

Using a hairdryer can also affect the scalp. So try to let your hair air dry a few times a week.

2. Be careful when styling your hair

Some styling products can worsen your skin condition and cause itching.

Remember to carefully wash all styling product residue from your hair: the accumulation of gels and sprays can irritate your scalp and contribute to itching and dandruff.

You can therefore use a deep cleansing shampoo for the ultimate clean and to ensure no residue or build-up causing irritation.

3. Wear a hat, but be careful…

Wearing a hat protects your head from cold weather and the elements, but it can contribute to an itchy scalp.

Wearing a hat creates a kind of microclimate around the scalp, a warm and humid environment perfect for the microbes that cause dandruff. This can lead to dandruff, as well as an itchy scalp.

So use an anti-dandruff shampoo at least three times a week to prevent dandruff, and you can continue to wear a hat and stay warm during the winter.

4. Keep your hair and scalp protected with Head & Shoulders

Let's face it: you can't get through winter without heating, a hairdryer, or a hat. So use a Head & Shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo to control an itchy scalp and dandruff.
