HOW TO STOP ITCH WITH NATURAL HAIR
Having natural hair means you may experience dryness, itchiness and irritation. We have a few tips on how to solve the root cause and get relief from itch fast.
If you have natural hair, you may find that you suffer from itchiness and irritation.
The unique demands of coiled and curly textured hair lead many to choose a hairstyle that can be worn for many days between washes.
Sometimes, though, maintaining these styles can stress out the scalp, leaving it itchy and irritated.
Common causes of itchy scalp
Hair styles
If you have braids or extensions, they may be the cause. Extensions and braids can pull your hair at the roots and cause tightness, irritation, and itchiness.
Build-up
Build-up of products, sweat or dirt on the scalp can also irritate the skin, causing an itchy scalp.
Dry scalp
Dryness is caused when the scalp’s moisture barrier is damaged. It’s difficult to give your scalp the moisture it needs in-between washes. This leads to irritation, itchiness and flakes.
Dandruff
Problems with scalp itching plus flakes could also point to dandruff. Dandruff has many of the same signs as dry scalp, but it’s caused by sensitivity to a common microbe on the scalp called Malassezia globosa.
