Itchiness is a common sign of dandruff. But when it’s accompanied by small bumps on your scalp, you may have another problem. Here’s what to look out for:
If you have dandruff, you’ll probably be experiencing itchiness too. In fact, it’s often a warning sign that dandruff is about to appear.
In this case, it’s caused by irritation to your scalp, and by scratching you risk damaging it further, leading to small bumps.
However, there are a number of other medical problems that can cause bumps. To work out whether it’s dandruff or not, check for the other symptoms:
- white flakes on your scalp and in your hair
- a dry, tight scalp
You can also find out by trying an anti-dandruff shampoo. If the problem clears up, then you know that was it.
Try our new Instant Relief Shampoo, which is proven to work and tackles the root cause of scalp itch – dandruff.
If after several weeks of regular use your symptoms have not improved, then it’s possible the problem lies elsewhere.
What if it’s not dandruff? Many different medical issues, from folliculitis and seborrheic dermatitis to hives and head lice, can cause bumps to appear on your scalp.
So, if you’ve ruled out dandruff, it’s best to consult your doctor or a dermatologist so they can diagnose the problem and prescribe a solution.
