QUEL EST L’IMPACT DES PRODUITS COIFFANTS SUR VOS CHEVEUX ET VOTRE CUIR CHEVELU

Head and Shoulders

Hair sprays, waxes, gels and dry shampoos are very common, and most people have used at least one. But if you use an unsuitable product, you could worsen the condition of your scalp. Find out how and what you can do to keep your hair and scalp healthy.

Styling products are aptly named: they help enhance your appearance, whether it's slicking back your hair with gel or absorbing grease with a dry shampoo.

What are the ingredients?

There are many ingredients: polymers for hold, moisturising agents, oils, fragrances, preservatives... They are too numerous to list them all.

Nor will you find two identical products. You may find that certain products cause scalp irritation, just as your skin reacts to certain ingredients.

Unfortunately, every skin is different, and while one person may be sensitive to an ingredient, another may tolerate it perfectly. It is therefore necessary to experiment to eliminate products that your scalp does not like.

Styling product build-up or dandruff?

When you use styling products daily, they start to build up, and washing your hair doesn't always get rid of them.

In some cases, this build-up can be visible on the scalp and hair and is often mistaken for dandruff.

It can also damage your hair and scalp, in the most extreme cases. Like anything else on your scalp, styling products degrade over time, and some of these residues can damage your scalp or cause irritation.

The best way to prevent this is to use a clarifying shampoo, which provides a deep clean and will remove all products, preventing any build-up.

Dry shampoo: it's not a substitute for a real shampoo

Dry shampoo is a very popular styling product. Often considered an excellent solution when you can't wash your hair, it is designed to reduce the greasy appearance of unwashed hair.

But it is not a substitute for washing your hair. When you use shampoo, you get rid of impurities, dust and particles on the scalp to deeply cleanse the hair and scalp, and prevent degradation into potentially harmful substances.

Dry shampoo does not offer these actions: it absorbs grease on the hair and scalp so that they don't look dirty, but impurities and dust are still present and slowly degrade.

Wash your hair regularly

To avoid product build-up and keep your hair healthy, try to wash your hair at least 3 times a week and use a clarifying shampoo at least once a week.

This will help you get rid of all product build-up on the scalp and keep it clean. Whatever your hairstyle, your hair and scalp will look great.
